About Us

In the next few weeks restaurants, pubs and cafes will be opening their doors once again after a long period of being closed. Our last opening as Main’s Restaurant proper was back in mid March 2025, with the last official event being the Charity Soup Kitchen we held for Ipswich Soup Kitchen. These past fifteen months or so have proved to be times of challenge, change and reassessment for most of the world in one form or another and we consider ourselves to have been very fortunate and privileged in remaining healthy and safe though this period.
These months have given us the chance to reflect upon everything that Main’s has given us, most importantly, an invaluable community of friends and customers, who have kept us going in innumerable ways over the past 14 years. Our aim for Main’s Restaurant was a welcoming neighbourhood restaurant with unpretentious good food in a relaxed manner that would make people feel at home, we hope we managed to create this for you.
We feel that it is now time for us to embrace a new challenge, so next week, Friday 14th May will be our last takeaway, and the restaurant will not be reopening.
Instead … we hope to reopen on Monday 14th June as Yoxford Makers, a teaching pottery studio aimed at creating community through making.
Many of you will know that I have been involved in pottery and teaching for over twenty five years and we feel that now is the right time to take a leap into something new.
If you would like to find out more please take a look at our new website www.yoxfordmakers.co.uk
It is very hard for us to express just how much the continued encouragement and support has meant to us and our family over the last fourteen years … we have met so many amazing people from so many different walks of life and witnessed many memorable special occasions and played a small part in people’s life defining moments through the restaurant. It has provided us with many funny, moving and happy memories.
With very best wishes
Nancy & Jason
Main’s Yoxford

Main’s Restaurant is a small family restaurant run by husband and wife team, Jason Vincent and Nancy Main.

The restaurant is housed in a former Draper’s shop on Yoxford High Street, just off the A12. The building was built 100 years ago and has been through many changes, including a Fish & Chip shop immediately preceding the opening of Main’s.

The menu changes daily, reflecting the availability of ingredients from local suppliers.

All elements of the menu are cooked and prepared on site by Jason and Nancy – there is even the odd piece of pottery made by Nancy!
